Real magic with Contemporary Vice
Contemporary’s art nurtures the inner child through the collision of vibrancy and imagination. It holds a psychedelic energy, displaying the world through a fifth-dimensional lens. Using expressionism, Vice’s art depicts the human experience and paints “the bigger picture”.
Chaotic and beautifully flawed, Vice’s art accentuates the imperfection of life, while hinting that magic is real.
Pride In Business: When did you start to see art as a way to express yourself?
Contemporary Vice: When I was 17, I discovered an intrinsic love for creation and it felt like I had found my purpose for the first time. I’ve always struggled to find the right words, yet have so much to say. Through art, I found my voice. I’m able to express myself using colour: pouring my thoughts, energy and emotion onto canvas. This allows a depth of communication that I’d never experienced before.
PIB: How art influence the way you experience your identity?
CV: Every experience brings enlightenment and growth, which I believe is deeply reflected in my work. Evolution of the soul radiates in my creations, which allows my imagination to soar, and reach new heights.
I believe that as I continue on this journey, my art keeps getting better and better. Therefore, a huge inspiration to me, is the idea that I’ve yet to create my best work.
PIB: What are your biggest influences as an artist and why?
CV: I feel extremely connected to the queer community. The acceptance and love I’ve experienced is truly special and has allowed my soul to flourish. I believe that by lifting each other up and nurturing self-expression, we can create beautiful change in the world.
